Artist Statement:
My work draws inspiration from nature, spirituality, and an eclectic mix of influences including poetry, literature, music, energy healing, and color psychology.  Each piece I create is guided by a focus on specific color themes. The psychology of color captivates me—its natural ability to evoke a vast range of emotions is profound. Color has the power to uplift, soothe or agitate. Our responses are deeply personal, informed by individual experiences and memories. Beyond mere aesthetics, color profoundly impacts our personal decisions, behavior, mood, and well being.

Symbolism plays a pivotal role in my art. Ladders and stairs serve as metaphors for progression toward self-awareness and potential. Despite their broken and unbalanced nature, each step requires independent navigation to move forward. Similarly, doors, portals, and passages usher from one state of being to the next. The compositions suggest maps of our navigational journeys, reflecting where we are and where we have been. Lines are obscured, broken, and reconnected to mirror the paths forged by our deliberate actions as well as happenstance. Guided by an intuitive sensibility, my paintings explore the passage of time and invite discussions regarding destiny, choice, and chance. They are a visual meditation on impermanence, the complex tapestry of life and the inner knowing that gently guides our way.

Terri Yacovelli earned a Masters of Liberal Arts degree from McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She is a former Studio Art Teacher and Adjunct Professor of Art.
 Select solo exhibitions include the Crary Art Museum (PA), and Rehoboth Art League’s Ventures Gallery (DE). She has participated in curated group exhibitions at institutions including the Susquehanna Art Museum (PA), Anonymous Society Gallery (Redding, CT), Carroll County Arts Council (Westminster, MD) and Gallery 40 (Poughkeepsie, NY). Her work has also appeared in juried exhibitions organized by the Inter-Society Color Council, the American Women Artists Association, and the International Encaustic Artists. Her art has been featured in publications such as Clover & Bee Magazine, Canvas Rebel, and Wax Fusion Magazine. In addition to her studio practice, she is a certified R&F encaustic instructor. Through artist talks, community workshops, and mentorship, she continues to foster dialogue around artmaking as a healing and transformative practice.
